In the state of Utah, you are required to carry liability coverage. Liability coverage protects the other driver and their vehicle in an accident where you are the responsible party. The coverage is mandated to be 25/65/15. That means $25,000 for injury to the first person in an accident with bodily injury and $65,000 for all the injuries in an accident. $15,000 is mandated for property damage.

Collision Coverage

If the other driver is responsible for the accident, their insurance should pay for the damage. If, however, they are uninsured or underinsured, you could end up having to pay for the damage yourself if you don't have the right coverage. You need uninsured motorist coverage.

Comprehensive Coverage

Comprehensive coverage protects your vehicle from things that happen other than a collision. This can be weather-related, such as flooding, wind damage, or hail damage. It could be a deer that runs into your vehicle. It also covers theft and vandalism.
